Mercury. Not exactly the most entertaining of planets, but certainly one of the most peaceful. With the atmospheric generator setting up a heat and pressure field around where he sat outside the TARDIS, it was actually quite nice.
He had two white wicker chairs and a table set up outside the TARDIS, with a pot of tea and two cups and saucers out.
After all, he had a date arriving.
Well, not really a date.
Just Romana.
Still! No reason not to put a little effort out!

"You're beautiful."
It was the first thing that came to his mind, seeing her lying like this with him.

This new incarnation of him was certainly different from all the others she had met. Definitely cheekier.
"It took you quite some time to notice that," Romana teased.

He ran his fingertips down her arms, almost as if he was mapping out her skin with his touches. He followed his fingertip touches with his lips. A different sense, this time, taste rather than touch.
It was difficult, for him, to be both a lover and the Doctor at the same time. To try to keep himself who he always had been and still be someone new for her.

Watching him, her skin tingled just ever so slightly under his touches and kisses. They were such simple gestures and yet she had never found herself enjoying anything as much as she did this. He was gentle.
And he was handsome.
In all the centuries she had known him, she had watched his regenerations progressively become younger and younger. Of course the thought of him doing this to make up for his old age crossed her mind, and it had earned her a grin in the past. Her old habit of over-analyzing matters did rear its head from time to time though and she could only wonder. Not that she was complaining about his appearance now.
With a slight tug on the shoulder of his shirt, a hint of that sly smile she used ever so rarely could be seen. "Though, I do believe that you have the slight advantage."

He tugged off his tie.
"I'm terribly out of practice," he admitted. Had he told her that before? He thought he probably had.

"They say that practice makes perfect," she pointed out. A beat later, she added, "Am I making you uncomfortable?"

Which was ridiculously honest, especially for him.
But that didn't mean he didn't want to. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her earlobe again, then another to her jaw. After all, if she was taking away the advantage he had of being clothed, he had to fight back somehow!

"Doctor, you have never been anything else but yourself around me."
She started to press kisses of her own to his cheek, hands traveling up his sides and then behind his shoulders.
"I expect nothing less and nothing more of you."

His fingertips went up her cheek and rested on her temple. Something that would let him know what she desired, and could show her how he felt. And it had been so long since he'd connected with someone of his own species. Too long.
Even as his lips hung just above her bellybutton, he opened his mind to hers, to connect if she desired.

Opening this connection was just another way of her showing to him just how much she trusted him, despite the disagreements they had had in the past.
His name left her lips in a soft whisper.

She connected to him, and the sensation was wonderful. He could feel her trust in him; her desire. He returned those emotions with desire of his own, of longing and adoration. She was Romana! The one that got away that he never, ever forgot.
He unbuttoned her jeans slowly. It was practically impossible to tug them down with one hand to her temple to keep them connected.

With her free hand she resumed the task of unbuttoning his shirt as she felt him pull at the jeans. She shifted some, elevating her hips just enough to make it a bit easier for him.
Never did she think she would open up to anyone like this. His emotions entwining with her own, to say it was intimate could not even begin to describe this.

One arm wrapped around Romana's shoulders as they lay together. Another thing that was changing. Had changed. Changed. It was different, now. Though he didn't think it was changed in a bad way, not remotely, it was just...well, it was different. Very different.
And he loved her. He knew it, even if he was probably unable to say it. He pressed a kiss to the crown of her head.

It was nice, waking to another presence instead of being alone in the bed. It was something, she thought, she could get used to if her hectic life could ever really allow it.
A warm smile graced her lips, murmuring a soft greeting to the Doctor before pressing a quick kiss of her own to his cheek.

A pause.
"You know, somewhere."
She was so comforting as she slept. A warm presence that made him feel...well, he didn't feel alone. And he'd had lovers in the past that couldn't make him feel this way. It had to just be Romana. Difficult woman that she was, she fit with him. She made him feel...like he belonged somewhere.

"And it's always late somewhere else," came the instant reply. She really could not help the need to get in the last word some times.

He leaned up and pressed a kiss to the side of her mouth.

"One thing always leads to another with you, doesn't it?"

Was he smug? Oh, just a little bit. He felt like he won that mini-banter.

Settling on running her fingers through his ruffled hair she pressed another short kiss to his lips. "Well, either way, it would seem that you have me around for a little while longer."
From:

Which wasn't true, actually. He was fairly certain he was used to her presence the moment she was there. Which was terrifying, also.
He tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear.

"Didn't you mention something earlier about ice-skating?" She asked. Not that she wouldn't mind spending more time until then just remaining where she was.

But he was one who liked to experience everything about a holiday at once. Which made Halloween a very painful holiday when he decided to try every candy he trick-or-treated at once.
