Recently, I have acquired a new roommate, [livejournal.com profile] best_served_hot. While our living arrangements are unusual due to our muses, it is certainly fun. And we've been playing a lot of chess.

First of all, has anyone else decided how they feel about the American version of Doctor Who coming to Fox? I mean, Joss Whedon's done some brilliant stuff in his time, but I don't know if he can pull it off. Especially if all the rumors about Megan Fox as companion are true.

Secondly!

The BBC has recently released archived documents by Sydney Newman surrounding the creation of Doctor Who, including a few of the "secrets" of the Doctor and how the characters were supposed to originally act and draw in the audience.

Personally, the best bit I found was that Barbara's name was originally supposed to be Lola. I think you know what's coming.

AT THE TARDIS (THE DOCTOR'S TARDIS!)

Her name was Barbara, she was a teacher
With a beehive for her hair and her dress cut up to there
She would be nosy and follow Susan
To the junkyard on Totter's Lane, she brought Ian tall and plain
They drove in Ian's car, watched Susan from afar
And when they got in they found a policebox
And went to the stars!

In the TARDIS! The Doctor's TARDIS!
It looks like a policebox but isn't!
(Time!) In the TARDIS! (Space!) The Doctor's TARDIS!
Try to go one place, you'll end up in E-Space
In the TARDIS!

His name was Alydon, he was from Skaro
He punched Ian in the face, went on to save the Thal race
And he wore leather, flirted with Barbara
But when the time came to split, Barbara wasn't having it
Alydon said "Stay with me," but Barbara chose to flee
And off she went into the TARDIS
On to episode three!

In the TARDIS! The Doctor's TARDIS!
It looks like a policebox but isn't!
(Time!) In the TARDIS! (Space!) The Doctor's TARDIS!
Try to go one place, you'll end up in E-Space
In the TARDIS! They went to Rome

((Intermezzo))

Her name was Barbara, she was a teacher
But that was in 1963 (year of the death of Kennedy)
Now she's in Mexico, saving some Aztecs
Saying sacrifice isn't fair, lots of feathers in her hair!
"History is mine!" She thinks it'll be fine!
But the Doctor, he knows better!
"No, not one line!"

In the TARDIS! The Doctor's TARDIS!
It looks like a policebox but isn't!
(Time!) In the TARDIS! (Space!) The Doctor's TARDIS!
Try to go one place, vanish without a trace!
In the TARDIS!

Don't change the past...
First of all, apologies to anyone who chats with me in AIM. I'm on some antibiotics that make me ubersleepy and sometimes I, quite literally, fall asleep without realizing it. That being said, I'm so excited to wake up from another day of sleeping to find so many responses to the last call for plot!

So! Now I've fleshed out the ideas a little more in my head, here you go!

I noticed reading the Doctor's FL that there are a lot of muses that are either a) running from something (the law, evil, themselves), b) chasing something (the truth, bad guys, missing links), or c) assisting one of the aforementioned. What would happen if the runners worked together to avoid the chasers and the chasers worked together to catch the runners?

Awesome things, I imagine.

So! I'm creating up three communities, one for the chasers, runners, and helpers. They can be meta or IG, all up to you. I can't decide if I want to moderate the people who enter, or make them more dressing-room like, because I expect to see more than one of the same muse popping their head in and having a good time.

Also what I haven't decided: Should this be like a chat room, an in-game location, or something else?

Things I'll need: Mods/Co-Mods. While I love making up new ideas, I am horrible when it comes to running communities. I have FRF, and that's enough! I know so many of you have offered to help and for that I am SO grateful. Who wants in? Chat amongst yourselves here and drop me an email naughtygirlslikepolka AT gmail DOT com.

Any ideas/comments? What do you all think?

EDIT! Apologies. Exhaustion/sick made this WAAAAAAAAY overcomplicated. One comm with three tags is so much easier.

Also this entire explaining is overcomplex. D= Hang on, I'll reword in a mo'.
So about a month ago I made a wonderfully cryptic post about doing a prompt-plot idea to last the summer that a bunch of people replied to or IMed or emailed me about. The idea was to have a topic (I had thought of the athlete's feet turning up on the beaches of British Columbia ETA: Thanks for pointing my geographical error, [livejournal.com profile] not_from_mars!) pop up in muses' prompts, very like Bad Wolf or Torchwood did in S1 and S2 of Doctor Who. The idea was that by the end of the summer our muses could discover the "source" of the feet and have a great big boss battle and it could be a blast. Unfortunately, due to my RL being a pain I haven't had a chance to flesh anything really solid out.

But, since I lack the ability to form coherent thoughts on that idea, my brain formed new ones. Thus, I have New Ideas™ that may or may not be rockin'. I'm great(ish) at ideas but terrible at execution (especially lately with the sick). Anyone who might be interested in plot-formation or community creation, drop me an email or a message here?

[Poll #1234447]
Someone's interpretation of alt!Ten... Greatest thing ever. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] ambitious_woman for feeding my AU habit of DOOM.

Also, a quick thing. Please remember that I don't friend back real-life or mun journals. Not because I don't love you or appreciate the support, I just can't have a real life journal on my friendslist cos I get so confused (believe me, I had this problem a few weeks ago!).

And here's that promised night music. I don't normally go for slow songs, but this one is a lovely vid of the women in the Doctor's life.

Cut for embedded video. )
In which I get sentimental...so SHHH. I'm allowed my sentimental moments.

It's not often one can actually trace back the beginnings of a friendship. Especially when you're obnoxious like me and go "HAI THAR" to everyone you meet and only eventually realize that you've become amazing friends with someone. Like, I'm still not sure where this spouse of mine came from. He insists we met at a theater, but I just don't remember. Maybe I have a squid in my brain.

As it is, two years ago today (er, yesterday, as stupid RL made me unable to post this yesterday) I first chatted with the now-mun for [livejournal.com profile] ambitious_woman in this thread here. At the time I had only been playing the Doctor for two weeks and she was established as the resident TM Fred.

Her and I ended up chatting a lot, and eventually I introduced her to Doctor Who and, well, as they say, everything went downhill from there.

So! My list.

The Things I Have Learned As A Roleplayer (And A Person) From Being Friends With [livejournal.com profile] ambitious_woman

- One should always roleplay for themselves and for fun. Sometimes that means doing things other people don't get. Sometimes that means locking a thread until you're 100% finished with it. Sometimes it means locking a thread and never unlocking it. But as long as you and your RP partner(s) are having fun, that's all that matters.

- "One more tag before bed" is hardly ever one more tag.

- Sometimes saying that the pups won't become romantically involved at the beginning of the RP doesn't mean that they won't start talking Shakespeare to each other and the word "platonic" sort of gets thrown out the window.

- The most romantic stories don't always involve sex. Sometimes they don't even involve pleasant emotions.

- You are not always right. You're not always wrong, either. Thus, you should accept what you're right about and what you're wrong about and move on. Dwelling only leads to tummyaches.

- Christmas as a retailer sucks. RP Christmas parties are awesome distractions.

- BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.

- RP is a shared experience. RP threads should be written by both partners, invented worlds should be co-created. Because unless you're walking into your muse's bedroom, there's no way they can expect absolutely everything they see or everything that happens. And that's usually the best part.

- Corsets kill people. Okay, maybe only my muse figured that one out.

- Quantity is only better than quality in the case of bottles of Diet Coke. Sometimes the best threads are the ones that take three months to complete.

- A sexually driven thread should always be different. If you can remove the names from an adult thread/story and still be able to tell which pups are involved, you're doing it right.

- Ferrets like Ipod cases.

- Angel was actually a good show after the Darla fiasco. Also, So You Think You Can Dance is not a horrific show. I refuse to say it's good. But I do like the contemporaries.

- Sophia Myles is a mini-goddess.

- Sometimes threads/storylines/plotlines don't work out. That doesn't mean you won't get upset, it doesn't mean you won't wish they worked, but sometimes they just don't. In which case, you work around it and move on.

- To err is human. To really fuck up requires that your name is "the Doctor".

- Replacing the "E" key on a keyboard is expensive.

- The best threads are the ones that are re-readable, especially on days when the muse is quiet and you think it's about time you said "TO FUCKING HELL WITH THIS". The best threads are the ones where you read it and go "But...I don't want to lose something like this." In case you were wondering, this one is mine.

- Being a friend doesn't mean you won't disagree. It doesn't mean you won't fight. It also doesn't mean you won't hurt each other. Being a friend means that you bring it up, talk it out, and things work out in the end.

Having an absolute blast. Steven Moffat is staying in the room across the hall from me, I've met Sophie Aldred and Sylvester McCoy and did I mention that Steven Moffat is staying in the room across the hall from me? OMFG.

More later.

I've snagged a few buttons and such, would anybody like a Gallifrey One souvenir? I have tons!

I'm off to Gallifrey One in the morning! Come 5am EST I'll be travelin', and arriving at some point in the PST (is that right? I have no idea what time zone Los Angeles is in)!

Anyone else goin'? Where'll we meet up? Do you have the chloroform and necessary equipment needed to kidnap Steven Moffat?

That is to say, I'll be gone for a few days. I'm caught up with my prompts, though I'll try to work on a few while I'm out there and RP will be sporadic to nonexistent. And, depending on what trouble we get in, I've taken a few extra days off from work for jail time/making up for being gone by giving y'all LOTS of RP!

See you on the flip side!

EDIT: Also! I made someone's day! That makes me squee! Here's my list, before I head back to packing-city...

Pick 10 people and give them the "You Make My Day" award. If you're picked, you are charged with picking 10 of your own.

There's far too much unhappiness going around. We need some love! Here's a fun love meme.

Reply to this post with anything you'd like and I'll tell you why I friended you and two things I love about how you play your muse. The only catch? You have to repost this as well.

Right-o! So, we're nearing the time for the infamous Gallifrey One convention! Your chance to meet Sophie Aldred, Steven MOffat, Sylvester McCoy, and (most importantly) the mun for [livejournal.com profile] rude_not_ginger!

I think we should have a meetup for anyone who might be going! I know [livejournal.com profile] ninewho and I are trying to coordinate rooms/etc, but I want to know who I get to actually meet while I'm there, if you all would like to do drinks/cause havoc/kidnap Mr. Moffat at some point during the convention!

Thoughts? Ideas? Cookies?
Discussions on character development that come out of conversations like this result in IM conversations like this...

[livejournal.com profile] ninewho: You know. Deep down, Nine really likes Ten.
Me: Ten: =D?
[livejournal.com profile] ninewho: Nine: X(
Me: Ten: =D?
[livejournal.com profile] ninewho: Nine: ......... XI
Me: Ten absolutely likes Nine. He's just not very good at showing. He gets distracted by shiny things.
[livejournal.com profile] ninewho: Yeah. Nine gets distracted by being Nine.
Me: So if Nine were in a shiny suit they'd both be distracted by him!
[livejournal.com profile] ninewho: It's true!

First of all, thank you very much to everyone for being so patient with the long waits between my tags. Things will get a lot easier after the holidays...then after January...I'm sure they're going to get easier eventually!

Also, thank you very much to whomever nominated my "four" prompt for [livejournal.com profile] you_rock! It made my day!

Hopefully we'll see a few new ficlets up here soon. Until then, Happy Holidays!

Don't forget to watch "Voyage of the Damned" Christmas Day on BBC One!
