You have picked up a distress signal, and followed it to a hotel in London. All you are able to determine is that it is coming from someplace inside the hotel, and is not terrestrial in origin. What will you do? What will you find at the other end of the signal?
"But I've found a...oh, nevermind."
The receptionist was exceptionally unhelpful, so the Doctor darted down the hallways of the hotel, knocking on doors. One of them would be the person who sent the distress signal.
OOC: Open to all. Any universe, any time. If you want to have your pup be in this hotel and answer the door, just go for it! I won't be up toooooooo much later this evening, but I won't leave anybody hanging, I'll catch you asap tomorrow afternoon!

She was quite surprised at who she saw.
[ooc: I've been dying to play with your pup, but it just seemed weird to do so with Four, so I thought I'd give Maria a go! Off to bed right now, but will pick up tomorrow.]

"Hello!" he said, breaking into a grand smile. "We've talked before, haven't we?"
OOC: YAY! I'm so glad we get a chance to play together! It's hard to find ways to get the Doctor to meet himself, and I positively love Maria. =D

How about we tag back and forth and I ping you when it's a good tagging point for Sarah? Or, you could put Sarah coming back to the hotel in another thread, and Maria and I can tag on that?

She smiled back, but gave him a slightly skeptical look.
"Yeah, we have. I guess I should have told you my name. I'm Maria. Maria Jackson."
She reached her hand out. As far as she knew, introductions were two-sided.
OOC: I'm happy too! And as for throwing Sarah in, that's fine with me, but yeah, down the line, I think. Sounds good.

Beyond that there is... a studio. A big, open art studio that smells of turpentine and oil paint and a somewhat confused looking hispanic man standing in the middle looking at the door.
"Who the hell are you?"
OOC: Been trying to get the boy into contact with more people and if there ever anyone to break the laws of time and space... :)?

"I'm the Doctor, did you send out a distress signal?"
From:

Out of the windows of the studio there is blurred scenary that indicates this is not street level.
"I... am distressed a lot, does that count?"
From:

As Peri would say: Bingo.
The Doctor extended his hand, "Just the Doctor. Mind if I come in?"

annoyingcute sort of way because her daddy was the absolute bestest daddy any girl could have and she didn't see him nearly enough what with him out saving the universe all the time. She taught him well after all."Of course I'm here! This is the nicest building in town." Stepping back she looked at him curiously. "When did you get here?"

Slowly, with one hand firmly grasping the phone to call the receptionist again, he opened the door, and almost immediately raised an eyebrow.
"Well...this is, er, very odd, I have to say."
From:

Then the mirror said something he didn't.
"Odd doesn't begin to cover it," the Doctor said, glancing behind himself and then back to the room, "What are you doing in there? I haven't checked into this hotel!"
From:

"You wouldn't happened to have sent out a distress signal, would you?" He wasn't waiting for answer, he didn't particuarly need one. He had simply meant to disrupt the somewhat awkward, troubled silence they had shared since his last comment.
There was something very wrong here. He sighed.
"No, I don't suppose you have."
From:

"Is that really what my hair looks like from the back?" he asked, craning his head to glance around.
Wait! No, topic at hand! He pulled out his timey-wimey device he'd been using to detect the signal and held it up.
"Have one of these?"

But he hadn't said not to open the door if someone came looking... The door opened, and she leaned in the doorway, arms crossed but looking casual in every way. "Not room services, as a guess."
From:

But this woman...there was something...off about her. She seemed out of her time. No. It was just his imagination.
"You haven't been setting off any distress signals, have you?"
From:
no subject
"It's not mine. It's within the building's grounds, he'd said. You've got some tech on you if you're detecting that sort, right?"
From:

It would be the appropriate time to dart away and not learn anything else about her.
But, then again, when did he ever do anything appropriate?
"What's your name?"

She understood his determination. After what he'd told her of his time in the future she could also understand why he didn't want her to know too much, in case things went wrong. No matter what they couldn't torture the truth from someone if they didn't know it in the first place. And that's what John had said they were like.
She paced slowly around the room, tugging the bathrobe tighter around herself and then went and poured some coffee. Her hands cradled the cup as she blew gently across the surface and stood staring out the large windows down into the streets below, again wondering what it was that had John so determined, worried a little that it might be dangerous. She caught herself thinking that and huffed a slightly derisive laugh at herself. Yeah, right!
She heard the knock at the door, rather urgent, and looked from it to the bedroom door, still firmly closed, and back to the door. Putting her coffee cup down she crossed across the large room and looked through the peephole, frowning at what she saw. A strange man, in a suit and what appeared to be runners, jigging somewhat impatiently and glancing up and down the hall. Her fingers closed around the baby Glock she'd slipped into her pocket on the way to the door and she cautiously opened it, still on the chain, and looked out at the man, a pleasant but curious smile on her face.
"Yes? Can I help you?"
From:

And then the door opened to reveal a woman in a bathrobe with a cup of coffee.
"Oh! Hello." Um...um...
"You don't happen to have a distress-signal emanating object in there, do you?"
From:
no subject
And how would this man know anyway?
"Not that I'm aware of," she replied, casting a quick glance down at his shoes then back up again. "Have you lost one? Or are you the hotel's security?"
From:

He pulled out his psychic paper and held it up.
"Hotel Director John Smith, checking to make sure there aren't any types of equipment within the premises that might possibly trigger a reaction to the simple electronic work we're doing along the corridors."
Of which there was none, but that was completely beside the point.
"If you do have anything, I'll just need to examine it for one moment, make sure it won't foul up any equipment, Miss...?"
