After this.
The things he promised himself he'd never do.
1) Never fall in love with a companion
2) Never bend the laws of time so far they break
3) Go back to Gallifrey
Well, he was having a rather productive Saturday, wasn't he?
He watched Romana sleep for a long while and eventually left the bed to make them some tea. It wouldn't be so bad, once she got over the shock and the breaking of the timeline and the destruction of her home world...
He sighed as he put the kettle on. He should never have gone back. Never have pulled her from what she knew. But then again, if he did she'd be dead. And he couldn't lose her, not after everything.
He grabbed some toast and the tea and headed back towards his bedroom. She'd wake up soon (one could only hope) and at least she'd have some breakfast ready.

Of course, by the time he got back to the room, she was awake, if still lying in bed. He hadn't intended for her to wake alone. Well, at least not alone and hungry, right?
"Good morning," he said. "Or evening. Good inter-spacial vortex! Made you some tea."

"I would think that tea would be fine no matter what the time."
A smile tugged at her lips when she saw the Doctor standing there. She had not realized just for how long she had been sleeping. It could have been days instead of hours with how heavy her body still felt, but at least her mind was considerably clearer.
"Thank you."

No, they'd all but rushed out of the TARDIS for a Christmas that never got to happen. His own fault, should've seen it coming. Still, now they had time for Christmases. Time for the whole universe.
The idea was a bit daunting, really.
"How did you sleep?"

Drawing her knees up to her chest with the blanket still keeping her warm, she hugged her legs and propped her chin on her knees. There was no denying the tired look in her eyes. She was still weary and worn but at least now she could control her thoughts, her emotions. She could keep herself inline.
"And you? Did you get any rest?"

He put some toast on a plate and offered her it and some tea. Ever the domestic Doctor...just the idea felt a bit wrong. But she needed it and he wasn't about to have her go hungry.
"A little," he lied. No use having her worry on top of all of it.

If there were ever to be a more a wrong idea, the notion of her being cared for like this was not something she was completely comfortable with. The last time she had had been, and for lack there of a better term, babied was after her twenty-year-imprisonment. But then again the strangest anomalies and ideas did shape the universe.
The cup warm in her hands, the plate balancing carefully on her lap once she had shifted yet again, there was a pause as Romana drank deeply. A sweet berry, but with that slight tangy after taste - one of her favorites.

"Should land off in Cardiff soon," he said. "TARDIS is going to need to refuel after the jump."

"I had never been there before," she said off hand when the cup was lowered from her lips. "Though I remember reading a bit about it whenever I was looking to keep myself up to date with what goes on in the universe, and the likes."

"There's a rift in time and space there," he said. "All that extra energy's a bit like petrol to a Type 40."

Plucking at a loose thread of the robe she had fallen asleep in, "I don't suppose I could trouble you for another look around that wardrobe? I would rather not run about in a bathrobe." She then shifted from under the covers and stretched her left leg out, examining. The wound on her knee was healing properly. It would scar but that was the least of her concerns.

"Mi casa es su casa," he replied. "Quite literally, now. As long as you'd like to stay you can. And free reign over the wardrobe room."
He ran a hand through his hair. "And Cardiff. Should take you around, introduce you to the enemy. Torchwood, that is."

Seeming satisfied with the progress of the wound healing Romana eased herself out of the bed, but only after draining the last bit of tea from her cup and setting it down carefully on the blanket. A little wobbly at first she was careful not to show it.
"Torchwood?" she repeated. "Really now, could they not think up something a bit more clever?"

He mimicked her action, putting his teacup on the bed and leaning back.
"It's because of them they had billions of Cybermen and---" Retract. Rewrite. "Cybermen all over their planet a few years ago."

Only after she was absolutely certain that would not fall forward when she walked did she make her way to the door. Her wound may have been healing but it didn't stop her legs from feeling a little on the weak side still.
Over her shoulder she added with a smile, "I'll be back in a few moments."

He stood when she did, ready to assist her should she need it. But no, being Romana she had to do it on her own.
He nodded to her departure and waited for her return. It was something he wasn't very good at, waiting. But he would.

And Romana was certainly good on her word. Roughly ten minutes had passed before the doors to his room opened enough for her to slip inside. Instead of the robe she had been dressed in earlier, she was now wearing a black twill jacket and honey-brown pants.
Both items seemed a little bit big on her but they were comfortable and suited her tastes.

Well...okay, maybe she was and he was and he might've been.
"Feeling better?"
From:

All right, so perhaps some things could not be helped.
Romana sat herself back down on the edge of the bed and rested her hands on her legs, looking to him. "So, this Torchwood - are they really something to be concerned about? Or is this more of a case of a name being larger than the actual potential risk in it of the enemy itself?"

"They opened a rift in time and space? Harnessed alien technology to destroy a retreating ship of Sycorax. A companion---well, former companion---of mine works there, now. Says he's redeemed it. I don't know."

Her fingers fiddled with the locket she still kept around her neck. Such a simple trinket. But she did like it. Her expression turned thoughtful, then, at his words. With a hand flat against the bed she leaned to the side, saying, "They sound as if they had given you a run for your money, or however that saying went."
Still, in intrigued her more than anything. "I would very much like to meet this former companion of yours. For one to run an operation such as that must at least be interetsing to talk to."

Seeing Jack would be nice, he supposed, if impossibly weird to have him meet Romana. Well, either they'd be incredibly amusing together or the Doctor would wind up insanely jealous.
One or the other.
"Yeah, I think we can swing by Cardiff.

She drew her legs onto the bed to sit cross-legged, leaning back on both of her hands now. "Still can't admit to anyone ever getting the better of you every now and again?"
From:

That said, he leaned back on the bed, looking up at her in an odd upside-down angle.
"You know, though, the entire organization could be founded on a lot more than violence. That's the main issue I have, all those guns."
From:

"With younger races, they find means to make themselves feel safe and will latch onto whatever those means may be," Romana sighed. When she looked up to the ceiling she faintly recalled the incident on Gryben with the Monans and Free Time. "...Any race, really. Violence has always been the driving force for so many just to ensure their safety or their power."

He moved a little closer to her and leaned his forehead against her thigh. He liked the contact, remembering that Romana was here.
