for [livejournal.com profile] greetingsfrom: Old

Dear Martha,

Went to a new place this time. By "new", I of course mean "old." It's called the Silver Devastation. It's an artificial planet created on the oldest place found in the universe.

This planet's pretty fascinating, Martha. They focus entirely on nostalgia and longevity. Even my own ancient race used to write about this place. A modern place for old beings, old memories. They infuse the atmosphere with memory enhancers which produce a sense of extreme nostalgia. It's especially good for the older beings who move here and live soley on their memories.

People are the sum of their memories. The planet simply enhances that.

The Face of Boe lived here for centuries.

Considering the way I feel while I'm here, I can understand why.

I miss you.

The Doctor takes a bit longer to make his response. Everything is obnoxiously punctuated and correctly spelled. He's never been very confident in speaking with colloquialisms, even text-based ones. And his phone has a ridiculously small text field.

She smiles to herself at the meticulous grammar, and humours him with a more literate response. Even though it takes a couple more minutes.

There was a long wait time between the posting and the return message.

Lonely.

Another brief stretch of time and another message:

Apparently the planet makes one honest as well.

Martha pressed her lips together and sighed at her inability to converse with the Doctor without inviting him over.

Come see me. I have jam tarts (2 pages)
