Maria saw the Doctor hurry over, still doing her best to keep the receptionist distracted. However, the noise of the printer caused him to immediately turn his head. Instantly, Maria thought she had two options. She could either try to explain it away (and she wasn't sure how), or...startle the receptionist enough to make a getaway.
Considering the Doctor had printed out what he needed, she thought the latter option was best. So...she grabbed the thermos of lukewarm coffee and spilled it on his private area. It wasn't scorching, and though she felt bad, she felt they had bigger concerns. It was enough to incapacitate him for the moment, however.
"Sorry," was her hasty retort as she stood, motioning for the Doctor to hurry away from the desk.
