Brilliant! I love the image of John and the Doctor talking to each other, and the emotion is amazing. I also love the idea of the Doctor asking Joan to be a companion being John's idea.
The way you created the shift from John to Doctor, all hinged on the single use of the word 'we' was an amazing piece of writing. There was no doubt about who whose voice was being heard at any point.
I wish this scene had been a part of the ep.
