It took a few moments of struggling to draw air into her lungs, during which she was pretty sure her arms at least were flailing of their own accord, for Lucy to actually be able to say "I can't breathe!" And that was when she realized she was tangled up in the Doctor and he was making it worse.
"Stop!" she wheezed, and tried bracing a hand on his chest to push herself back and away from him.
