I didn't really buy the 'he died too fast to regenerate' part either. There had to be more to it - more to the thought process that he went through. And you did a nice job showing that. The Doctor definitely needed someone to stop him in that scene - but unfortunately there was no one in this case. And he was left wondering why he should survive. :( Thanks for helping to fill in the blanks. :)
