It was always so easy to want to stay free. The Doctor used to think, in his youth, that he was flawed if he wasn't free. But now, here, it...it wasn't so bad, not really. Jack understood adventure, he understood the need to travel. The Doctor could feel Jack's longing to reassure him cross the connection.
There was nothing to be afraid of.
So why was the Doctor still utterly terrified? Probably because of how very, very easy it would be to shatter this. To lose this between them. And, really, if anyone could shatter this, it would be the Doctor----
