While he was grateful to not have to see the bits of Jack he couldn't carry with him back to the cave, it was also a little disturbing that there was no sign of his attack at all. Even the blood splatter along the cave rocks had vanished.
"Well, running might not be a good idea," he said. "But! If that base is as close as you say it is---" He sighed. "What am I saying? Knowing my luck, we'll have to run anyway."
