I'm secretly excited for the bits of angstiness as well. And the fact that he has to witness his future alone. No companion to make him feel better. No damsel in distress looking to him as the hero. They are looking to this New Doctor.

And the fact that he meets Eleven, and Eleven is still alone, too. The fact that he knows even if he meets a new companion, it's not going to last. The inevitability of it.

I secretly (I'm very secretive, aren't I?) am a big fan of those little clues to his change. I love him dearly, but one of my favorite bits this series was in Planet of the Ood, the "every song must come to an end" piece.

*shakes fist* Damn you, Ripley!

(I'm very torn about what I want for Ten at times. I really do want him to have some kind of happy ending, at least once. But also, I think I'm a sucker for angst. British sci-fi is as good a medium as any to get out all that emotional crap. My feelings for Ten I suppose lean towards the manic. I guess the character lends himself to that a bit.)
